ABOUT DERBYSHIRE TIME SWAP
Time Swapping (or Time Banking) is a fantastic initiative which allows members of the community to ‘swap’ their time to help somebody else. This support can range from assistance with gardening, to teaching I.T skills, or giving cookery lessons - the sky is the limit!
In return for this, a member of the community earns back time which they can spend doing something they want to - like learning a new skill or receiving help from another member. Members can even donate time they have accrued to other members if they wish. Time is the only currency used.
Needless to say, Time Banking presents tremendous benefits across the entire community.
The Derbyshire Time Swap service will come to an end on the 31st of October 2026.
A new ‘social connection service’ will be starting on the 1st of November 2026 and will be available across the county.
This service will build on many of the things people have said they value most about existing projects – including meeting people, getting involved in local activities and feeling part of their community - while offering a more flexible approach to supporting communities; increasing social connection & reducing loneliness.
Over the coming months, we will be working closely with our members, to provide information on other projects and services that you may wish to access when the time comes for Derbyshire Time Swap to come to an end. One of those options will be the new ‘social connection service’.
We will ensure that you know what is on in your local area as well as other timebank opportunities that may be available.
We would encourage you all to continue swapping in 2026, we still have an opportunity to really make a difference. The team and your Time Swap Development Officer are here to support you.
We are committed to Derbyshire Time Swap, right until the end of the funding period (October 2026) and will be working hard to make sure that none of our members are left behind.

3. INDUCTION
To make sure that all members and swaps are safely managed, we will support you through an induction, where you will be provided with a Member Handbook.

4. GIVE TIME
Find opportunities to give your time on our system or let your coordinator know what you might be interested in.
